The bit most people miss

Nearly half of NZ sole traders are leaving money on the table.

Expenses they were entitled to claim, quietly going unclaimed year after year. I set your Xero up properly and sit alongside you on every expense, so everything you're entitled to gets claimed. That one decision puts you in the other half - the sorted half.

Sounds like you

If any of these sounds like you, we should chat.

I work with people who want to make more informed decisions about their business. Some want to understand the books themselves. Others want a real human running them. Either way is fine. Here's where you might be starting from.

Most common

The nervous first-timer

You've just gone sole trader, opened Xero, and immediately closed it. The chart of accounts looks like a foreign language. You don't know what you don't know.

  • Xero set up properly from scratch
  • Plain-English walkthroughs
  • No daft questions, ever
DIYer

You've outgrown the DIY

You've been doing it yourself a few years. It mostly works. But GST time is stressful, you suspect you're missing claims, and you want a second set of eyes.

  • File audit and clean-up
  • Ongoing monthly support
  • Catch the claims you've missed
Small biz

Small team, big payroll headache

You've got 1-5 staff. Payroll keeps you up at night - KiwiSaver, leave, PAYE. You want someone who'll just sort it without making you feel daft for asking.

  • Weekly or fortnightly payroll
  • Leave, PAYE, KiwiSaver, ACC
  • Compliance handled, fully

Not sure which one you need? Honestly, most people start hourly as a trial period - then decide whether monthly is the right fit. No pressure either way.

I came to Karen from Hnry as a sole trader. Three years in and I hadn't realised I'd been leaving money on the table - properly leaving money. The claims I'd been missing paid for her work in the first quarter. Now I understand what's happening in my books, with the added benefit of looking the part.

About me

A real human running it.

I've been bookkeeping for over a decade. Sole traders, contractors, and small companies who want a real human running their books alongside them - and alongside their accountant where one's involved.

I ran my own business for ten years before I started this practice - sole trader through to Ltd company, five staff. That's why I work the way I do.

Think of me as a business partner running alongside you. Not just a bookkeeper running your numbers. The way that shows up:

  • Real-time records, so you can make decisions on what's actually happening - not last quarter's guess.
  • No IRD surprises. GST and tax obligations filed on time, every time.
  • Claims you'd miss yourself - real dollars back in your pocket.
